Back then we were only 5 billion. It was some years ago. 31 years to be exact. Inspired by the public interest and awareness that was created by "Five Billion Day" on July 11, 1987, when the world's population reached 5 billion., The United Nations Development Programme UNDP recommended the introduction of World Population Day,
After some 31 years, we are much a bigger family now. The United Nations Infographics show a total world population today around 7,795 billions. Nevertheless, our bigger family is deepening existing inequalities and vulnerabilities, particularly for women and girls.
Every year, many many girls are subjected to practices that harm them physically and emotionally, robbing them of their right to reach their full potential. Not only those unlucky ones face difficulties to overcome social and motivational barriers, but also more than other million girls will be subjected to female genital mutilation and much more will be forced to marry.
The pandemic forcing lockdowns are expected to make matters even worse, and not only for them. The pandemic has impacted the mental health of us many, among all sections of the society, almost in every country. Living in social isolation, maintaining no physical contact with anyone, and staying indoors for extended periods has not been easy. Added to this is the massive economic impact of businesses collapsing and job losses made us think twice about the essentials.
Today after thirty-five days of publications Many Many Beginnings core message is still to be spread. We have to educate and cultivate human beings, especially girls, and empower women. And for or global economies, that's the most powerful leveraging factor, and when that happens, then the population begins to stabilize and societies begin to make better choices and more balanced choices.
Global feedback from readers of Many Many Beginnings resulted in a proposal to demonstrate an inclusive society experiment in rural areas - with a small size population of around three to five thousand citizens. After studying how such a social experiment can yield benefits Team Many Many Beginnings along with experts in fields of neuroscience, psychology, education, architecture, economics, artists, philosophy, and sociologists came up with the idea of how a real solution can fight those social and motivational barriers and socio-economic problems. After some initial work, such a proposal is currently being worked with the local community in Sierra Leone.
The violent civil conflict in Sierra Leone that lasted from 1991 to 2002 destroyed most of the country’s social, economic, and physical infrastructures. By the end of the war, almost half the country’s population was displaced (2.1 million people), 50,000 people had died, and more than 40,000 human rights violations had been committed. The violence began in the east, spreading to the north and south almost four years later. It only reached Freetown, the capital city, in the west in 1998. A peace agreement signed in January 2002 marked the end of the war and the beginning of the transition to peace. The government of Sierra Leone implemented a range of post-conflict policies. These policies included economic measures to encourage economic growth and employment opportunities, and active labor-market policies—particularly skills development training—to increase youth employability.
Many Many Beginnings Team was motivated to team-up with motivated communities that are open for social innovation – to try the benefits of a social system called ARTBOX. EYES-SL was the first one to volunteer.
With local support and ownership of EYES-SL, Project ARTBOX aims to develop an inclusive and productive community. To fight poverty and help goals for sustainability ARTBOX reconciles both ecology and social business through the dissemination of sustainable technologies. It operates in a typical rural environment of 3.000 – 5.000 citizens from a hub of 1.000 m2 comprising three activity centers:
Culture Center for research and development with a technology lab – including library education services and an art atelier for sustainability strategy;
Entertainment Center providing a designated dance area, an exhibition area on photography and African art, an experiment area for science and a cinema free for all;
Production Center: social entrepreneurs after initial training will take action using green and modern Technologies for production with ALL the 3.000 to 5.000 citizens, also for authorities making the best of the idea of recycling.
Some of these citizens today are waste pickers living absolutely at the bottom of society. They are not only poor, but they are also socially marginalized because their work is deemed undignified. Some live near the waste dumps with their families in horribly unhealthy, unsanitary, and degrading circumstances. ARTBOX empowers local waste pickers and raises awareness and provides training to all the other members to fight against poverty with a united spirit. This includes that everyone embarks on a journey to walk to visit ARTBOX will collect and process garbage. This will reduce the waste volume in municipal landfills and generate greater income, producing compost and other marketable by-products such as fertilizers. The main responsibility of the project however lies with the inclusive and rotating management of the local community members – who are trained per age group to prepare for these management roles by the local elderly.
With the help of motivated readers of Many Many Beginnings, the book will be translated into many many languages to foster a new way of looking to the world - to realize that if we can learn to work and cooperate than we can manage complex tasks easier which require that we invest in girls and women, and the future of our world.
Who knows maybe then population stabilisation becomes a priority for good governance and all of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals United Nations have shown us will advance rapidly for us to look back to today from 2051, July 11th - with a smile on our faces - by then on all of our probably 11 billion faces.

I know as a girl or woman are still facing some issues. But, the world is changing! We are strong enough as men. We don't need reservations or sympathy. Just need changing and accepting mentality.
Girls are being discriminated & exploited right from her birth till she is alive. Only the form changes from country to country. Though there is right to equality in theory but, in practice, majority of countries are male dominated, except a few.
Several research has shown that, in general, women are better leaders then men.
Empowering women shall make our world a better place to live and, many social, socio-economic, etc problems including "population control" & "illiteracy" would find better positioned & in control in the hands of women leaders.
